On the 16th February 2021, the CReW+ (An Integrated Approach to Water and Wastewater Management Using Innovative Solutions and Promoting Financing Mechanisms in the Wider Caribbean Region) project launched its virtual capacity development programme known as the CReW+ Academy.

The CReW+ Academy is a platform that brings together all the training initiatives led by the CReW + project in a single location. The objective is to offer short and free courses to different sectors including ministries, service companies, associations and regional organizations of the 18 participating countries (Barbados, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Granada, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago).

By engaging the CReW+ Academy, participants will not only listen to and learn from a variety of local and regional experts, they will also have the opportunity to actively engage with fellow Academy peers, test their knowledge in quizzes, and share their experience during panel discussions.

Upcoming Courses

The CReW+ Academy will offer the following courses from March to April 2021. Click on the links to register on the platform:

8 March 2021 - Her Money: Gender lens investing (How finance can accelerate Gender Equality in Latin America and the Caribbean)
17 March 2021 - Indigenous WASH: Wisdom I (The importance of natural resources and water in the Indigenous People´s Worldview)
22 March 2021 - Climate resilient IWWM for utilities (How are they dealing with infrastructure by climate change events?)
8 April 2021 - Indigenous WASH: Wisdom II (Technical perspectives from Mexico and Honduras)
14 April 2021 - Constructed Wetlands for Wastewater Treatment (Experience and use of constructed wetland (biofilters) for decentralized wastewater treatment in Costa Rica)
20 April 2021 - Wastewater in Bolivia (Experience of decentralized wastewater treatment and reuse in Bolivia)
27 April 2021 - Integrated Wastewater Management (An approach of water balance and management for the environment)
29 April 2021 - Credit Enhancement in the Water and Wastewater Sector (Experience of the Credit Enhancement Facility in Jamaica)

More courses will be available from June to December 2021 and interested participants are encouraged to check the CReW+ Academy website for updates and to follow the project in Twitter (@WaSa_Hub) for further announcements.

To enhance thematic diversity, the project is also inviting participants to give feedback and to suggest additional topics, speakers and moderators via email (crew@giz.com).

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded CReW+ project is co-implemented by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and co-executed by Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through the programme "Sanitation for Millions", the Secretariat of the Cartagena Convention and the Organization of American States (OAS).
